Tadris Bahasa Inggris Students of IAIN Lhokseumawe Win Fourth Place in the Aceh-Sumut Intercollegiate Futsal League


EDSA, April 20, 2025 - Students of the English Education Department (Tadris Bahasa Inggris or TBI) at the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Lhokseumawe have once again demonstrated their excellence beyond the academic field. The TBI futsal team, known as TBI Boys, successfully secured fourth place in the Aceh-Sumut Intercollegiate Futsal League organized by the Aceh Tamiang Student Association (IMATA). The tournament took place at Alouh Futsal, Cunda, Lhokseumawe, and featured 16 student teams from various universities across Aceh and North Sumatra.

This competition served as a platform not only for intercampus friendship and networking but also for developing students' talent and passion in sports. The participation of TBI Boys reflected the department's active engagement in extracurricular achievements that complement academic growth.

Throughout the tournament, TBI Boys demonstrated strong determination, teamwork, and discipline. They progressed through the group stage and reached the semifinals. Unfortunately, after a challenging match, they were defeated and had to play in the third-place playoff. In that final match, they put up a strong fight but ultimately finished in fourth place with a final score of 4–2. Despite missing a podium finish, the team’s journey was a remarkable accomplishment for the department and the academic community.

The team captain expressed his appreciation and shared his thoughts on the tournament. He stated, "We tried our best in every match, especially in the third-place game. Our goal was to bring pride to the English Education Department. We are very happy that the matches were played with fairness and sportsmanship. We dedicate this effort to our program and lecturers who have fully supported our participation."

Support from the department played a key role in the team’s enthusiasm and performance. Dr. Nurul Fadhillah, M.Hum., the Secretary of the English Education Department, also conveyed her pride in the students. She said, "We, the lecturers of Tadris Bahasa Inggris, are already very proud of our students. They have given their best and shown that they can excel not only in academic settings but also in extracurricular activities. We strongly support all positive initiatives led by our students."

She added that experiences like these are essential for personal development, leadership, collaboration, and building strong character. According to her, participation in such events is an important part of a well-rounded educational experience.

The participation of TBI Boys in the Aceh-Sumut Intercollegiate Futsal League not only enhanced their sportsmanship and competitiveness but also helped strengthen relationships among students from different campuses. Their efforts brought pride to IAIN Lhokseumawe and set an inspiring example for other students to pursue excellence and contribute positively to the university community.
